Dr. Alenghat graduated in 1972 from Madras Medical College, Madras University. Her pathology residency (1974-1978) was at Bridgeport Hospital in Connecticut. She then trained in obstetrical, gynecological and perinatal pathology at Boston Hospital for Women/Harvard Medical School (1979-1980). Next she worked as an Assistant Professor in OB/Gyn Pathology at the University of Chicago from 1980-1986. She is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and practiced general pathology at Methodist Hospital of Gary and Merrillville, Indiana from 1986-1989. She served as Laboratory Director of Hyde Park Hospital in Chicago from 1989-1996 and joined PTPG in 1996.

She is the current Laboratory Director at Kewanee Hospital. Dr. Alenghat has a special interest in gynecological pathology and is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria.
